Pacaran

The first official outing of the Lima Camping Club was held in Pacaran, a few kms from Lunahuana during the long weekend of Santa Rosa de Lima. Pacaran is a very quiet town with simple amenities, finding a cold beer was not easy, although the intrepid campers managed. I can recommend a visit, in fact several visits, to the local Pisco distillery where the host will treat you to various samples of the local brew. If you go on a Sunday he may well be feeling especially generous, after having consumed various bottles of the cheaper hooch, and two rounds of each brew left Laurant and myself with a pleasant glow! The distillery is named after the owner, Don Nepta and they will be competing in this years Pisco festival to be held at Jockey Plaza in Lima.

Bariloche

In late July some friends and ourselves visited Bariloche in Patagonia. The place is incredibly beautiful, mirror-like lakes surrounded by snow-capped mountains. The cabins that we stayed in are called El Labrador, ( after the golden labrador that runs around there I believe ) Check out their website here: http://www.cabanasellabrador.com.ar/english/index.htm
Above are some pictures of the cabins and lake.

I can thoroughly recommend El Labrador. It is close to the ski centre and 15 Kms from Bariloche village. Roberto and his wife, the owners, designed the cabins themselves. I especially liked the underfloor heating. Roberto sent a mini-bus to pick us up from the bus station at Bariloche, and looked after us very well. Bring cash to pay they hven't yet got Visa facilities, but should do in the near future.

Scotland Pilgrimage

OK this is the beginning of the Parry (Peru) blog. I am here in Dundee Scotland on my annual pilgrimage to my home town and freezing my bollocks off. I will upload some pictures, as soon as I get the hang of this Picasa and Hello software from Google.
later.
